Q: How do I search for a Master’s thesis?
A: If you know the author or title you may enter those terms in the Library’s Catalog Search interface. On the results page select “Thesis/Dissertation”.
For example:
Author: Freeman, Veronica
Title: The Baton Rouge Bus Boycott of 1953
Important Notice: Theses and dissertations published before 2010 are archived and located in the Archives, Manuscripts, and Rare Books Department at the John B. Cade Library. Theses and dissertations published after 2010 are available online exclusively through the ProQuest database. To access PDFs of theses and dissertations completed after 2010 at Southern University, please visit the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Database.

This is a general breakdown on the availability of Theses located at the John B. Cade Library and Online.
From 1959-2010...
From 1959 to 2010, all original bound copies of student manuscripts are housed in our archives department. These manuscripts are non-circulating and not available for interlibrary loan, but they can be searched through our online catalog.
If multiple copies of a particular title exist, the additional copies can be found in the circulating stacks on the third floor of the John B. Cade Library. These circulating copies are available for checkout by students and faculty.
From 2010 onward, all copies of student manuscripts are available exclusively online through the ProQuest database.
To access the manuscripts on ProQuest, please follow these steps:
1. Visit the John B. Cade Library website: https://www.subr.edu/page/2441
2. Under the "Find" section, click on "Databases A-Z."
3. Select the letter "D" and choose "Dissertations & Theses @ Southern University and A&M College (ProQuest)." If you are on campus, click the "ON CAMPUS" link.
4. If you are off-campus, Click on the OFF-Campus link.
