Who Qualifies for Distance Education Services?
Southern University and A & M College Distance Education Library Resource Guide
The Library considers students who are enrolled in Southern University and A & M College online degree programs that do not come to campus for those courses to be Distance Education (DE) students. These students are eligible for the same services as on-campus students.
What library services are available to Distance Education Students?
John B. Cade Library strives to accommodate the information needs of students and faculty outside of the Baton Rouge area. The Library will send books and materials at no cost for shipping to distance education students who live more than 30 miles from Baton Rouge, with the student covering the cost of returning items in a timely fashion. Students who live less than 30 miles are free to come to the library for material.

Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan (ILLIAD)
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available to all SU-students, staff, and faculty. This service allows users to borrow materials (books, photocopies of journals, etc.) from libraries outside of the SU-System.
Ingenta is a pay per view service that host scholarly journals from different publishers. Utilize Ingenta for periodical titles not found at the library. Request may take 24-48 hours.
Library Services for Distance Education Students
The Library has created a comprehensive research guide to answer all of your questions about library resources and services available of John B. Cade Library.
LALINC is the Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium. LALINC is a service for graduate students, distance education students, faculty, and staff of Louisiana colleges and universities allowing them to borrow materials not available in the John B. Cade Library from most academic libraries in Louisiana.

SU-ROARS is a new article delivery service that allows the library to access journal articles and deliver to users within 2 hours to 24 hours. This service is tailored to provide on-demand access to meet the immediate research needs of users and provide access to articles that are not available via the library’s databases and subscriptions. Time period varies on weekend.* SU-ROARS is only available to faculty, staff and graduate students during this pilot period.
