Reference Department: Part 2: Where to find Reference Materials

Online Catalog and Reference Sources

To locate reference source, enter a WORD or PHRASE SEARCH, or a Subject search. Enter the resource (Example: Atlas, Encyclopedia, Handbook, etc.). Locate TYPE and select Reference Book to search books in the Reference Collection.

John B. Cade Library

To search for Reference Sources go to the online catalog. To see all the titles John B. Cade Library has in print and electronic format Under the Power Search, locate subject. 

​You can search for Almanacs, Atlases, Bibliographies, Biographies, Chronologies, Dictionaries, Digests, Directories, Encyclopedias, Gazetteers, Handbooks, Indexes, Pictorial Works, Statistical Works, and Yearbooks.

​Most of the time you may be researching a certain type of source but will not know an exact source to go to. In this case you will need to know how to search for Reference Books based on the type of information you are trying to find.
