- African American Mosaic The Library of Congress' gateway page for the Study of African American history and culture.
- National Museum of African American History and Culture This Smithsonian museum curates and exhibits a wide (and expanding) range of African American historical and cultural artifacts, including a unique collection of literary rarities.
- Documenting the American South Hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this deep archive collects material on Southern, and African American, history, literature, and culture, including a unique collection of slave narratives. Materials are arranged thematically by collections, several of which (The Church in the Southern Black Community, North American Slave Narratives, Library of Southern Literature) are of particular interest to scholars of African American Literature.
- The Project on the History of Black Writing From the University of Kansas, the project maintains an expansive bibliography of rare African American literature.
Slave Narratives
- Southern University Slave Narratives, 1822-1865 John Brother Cade, Southern University Dean and Archivist, lead a collection of ex-slave narratives in the 1930s. The collection holds the stories of approximately 125 individuals from 17 states, the Indian Territory, and Canada.
