Pass The Torch For Women
The Pass The Torch for Women Foundation was formed out of an Indianapolis organization launched in 2011 called the Mentoring Women’s Network, founded by Alison Martin-Books. The network was made up of seasoned professionals who joined together to share best practices and to support each other professionally, in the hopes to grow women leaders. The network of professionals continued to increase in size with hundreds of executives. What do you do with an impressive Rolodex of executives passionate about supporting women in business? Of course, you harness that enthusiasm and professional knowledge in order to give back to women in the community that don’t have access to mentors and support. In the summer of 2014, the nonprofit organization, now known as the Pass The Torch For Women Foundation was formed with a vision of a world where ALL women are equitably represented at all levels of leadership in business and government. The mission of the organization evolved to address the needs of women throughout their career life style. The funds raised through individual donations, grants, and corporate sponsorship allow the Foundation to provide mentors and professional training for female college students with the goal of transitioning them into the workforce successfully. The student program, called Project Grow, included 100 female students from Ivy Tech Community College and Marian University for the 2015/2016 academic year. This coming academic year the Foundation plans to include 100 students from Indianapolis and 25 from Fort Wayne.
