SUBJECT HEADINGS
A subject heading is a word or phrase assigned to a Library resource that describes its subject content. It can be used as a reliable means of searching for resources on a particular subject. Some resources may have more than one subject heading.
All subject headings come from an established or standardized list of headings. When you are conducting research using databases subject headings can provide alternative words that can be used to expand your search. This information is an important element in creating a search strategy before conducting a search.
It is important to note that subject heading may go by different names in different databases. See the example below:
