At our library, we provide a variety of services to support the academic and research needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Here's a glimpse of what we offer:
Computer Labs-Computers are available throughout the library for scholarly and research activities such as database and internet searching, accessing Moodle, Banner, class assignments, preparing papers, presentations, and using word processing. Although the library has computers on each floor, there are two main areas, located on the second floor, where students use computers, printers, video/camera technology, and scanners.
The first area is called the Library Learning Resource Center (LLRC), which includes a computer lab with over 50 workstations, training center, and classrooms. It is equipped with the latest technology. (Located on the 2nd Floor of the Library)
The Library Training Center (LTC) is an on-site computer-training facility designed for students and faculty. In this capacity, it provides users with hands-on instruction in a state-of-the-art facility. It provides training opportunities that respond to constantly changing technology needs of individuals, organizations and the community.
Study Spaces: Find your ideal study environment in our designated study areas, including quiet zones for focused work and collaborative projects throughout the library. We offer comfortable seating, ample desk space, and access to power outlets and Wi-Fi for your convenience.
Group Study Rooms, and Individual Study Carrels are also available for you to study. While some study areas are open, The Group Study Rooms on the 1st Floor of the Library and the Individual Study Carrels on the 2nd Floor of the Library, will require you to check-out a room at the Ask Here Desk Located on the 1st Floor of the library.
Persons found eating, littering, engaging in loud, disruptive conversation or conduct, defacing library property, or otherwise acting inappropriately and/or irresponsibly while using a study room will be required to leave the library immediately and may be permanently barred from all future study room usage.
The 3rd Floor Quiet Study area is ideal for completing an exam and quiet study.
4th Floor of the library also has additional study areas available.
Students are required to have a valid Southern University Identification Card to request a room.
Classrooms 1 & 2 located on the second floor, has a video and digital projector which are excellent for presentations, lectures, testing and much more. Classrooms 1 & 2 have a seating capacity of 100.
Classrooms 3 are located on the 2nd floor across from the Training Center. It has a seating capacity of 25. A perfect location for presentations and lectures. Classrooms 3 can be equipped with a TV and VCR/DVD upon request.
Classrooms A & B are located on the 3rd floor next to Music Listening. Each classroom has a seating capacity of 35. A perfect location for presentations and lectures. Classrooms A & B can be equipped with a TV and VCR/DVD upon request.
Electronic Devices i.e., Laptops, iPads, webcams, etc. are available for check-out to current Southern University students. You will need a valid student identification card to check-out a device and complete the Electronic Devices Lending Agreement form. All devices can be checked-out at the Ask Here Desk located on the 1st floor of the library. You will need a valid Southern University ID to check-out a device.

Ingenta Connect is a pay-per-use service used by Librarian. If you cannot find a journal in the library's collection utilize Ingenta. All request will be answered with 24-48 hours.
The Interlibrary Loan service allows SU students, faculty, and staff to borrow from other libraries if items are not available at the John B. Cade Library.
LALINC(Louisiana Academic Library Information Consortium) is a service that allow graduate students to check-out books not owned by John B. Cade LIbrary from other Louisiana Libraries *some restrictions apply*
SU-ROARS is a new article delivery service that allows the library to access journal articles and deliver to users within 2 hours to 24 hours. This service is tailored to provide on-demand access to meet the immediate research needs of users and provide access to articles that are not available via the library’s databases and subscriptions. Time period varies on weekend.* SU-ROARS is only available to faculty, staff and graduate students during this pilot period.
