How to search an article authored by a nurse

Search articles authored by nurses by following the steps below:

CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) can help. It has limits for Research articles. It also has limits for "First Author Nurse" "Any Author is a Nurse."  If you use this limit and do not find an article you can use, you can try alternative methods.

How to Use Limiters to Find Research Articles by a Nurse:

  1. Write down your research topic​
  2. Identify keywords from your research topic
  3. Find alternative words using CINAHL Headings
  4. ​Combine keywords using Boolean Operators
  5. ​Construct a database search strategy using Boolean Operators
  6. ​Go to CINAHL Database
  7. Select the Advance Search Option
  8. Enter your search strategy
  9. ​Apply Limiters: (Click the following options: First Author Nurse, Any Author is Nurse, Enter range of years 2013-2018, full-text.

Remember to keep your search broad. Use 2 or 3 keywords. Having to many keywords will return limited results. Avoid using an excessive amount of limiters Using to many limiters will affect the number of results retrieved.
